What Is The Most Dangerous Sport In The World? Russian Urban Train Skiing Has To Be Close

Is Russian Urban Train Skiing pushing action sports too far?

Skiing behind trains… insane – Photo: Mr Digger / YouTube

Urban skiing is rad, but the lack of ski lifts on regular streets and roads make getting around a little tricky. But fear not, these ingenious* Russians have found a solution.

*NB: For “ingenious” read “slightly unhinged but completely fearless Russians“.

They’ve decided to amp up their street skiing sessions by riding behind moving trains. The crew, led by internet famous dude Mr Digger, fixed a rope on to the back of a loco as it pulled into a station.

From there Mr Digger and his skis, hung on for dear life as the train started speeding its way to the next stop. Rather predictably, as the train started really gathering pace, our hapless Russian hero stacks it, and goes rag-dolling down the track.

All of this is only further evidence that there must be something in the water over in Russian. It seems like a week rarely goes by when we don’t see some of our friends from the former USSR doing something completely insane and uploading the footage to the internet for our viewing pleasure.

In recent months we’ve seen videos of Russian folk really cutting lose, from jumping off roofs on homemade death swings, to one man performing surgery on himself, to jumping in to active volcanos, to crashing cars off bridges, and even setting themselves on fire and jumping off nine story buildings. Madness, Russia. Madness.

Of course, we’ve seen our Russian friends arsing about – quite illegally, not to mention incredibly dangerously – with trains in the past. For a while, a whole bunch of them started surfing on top of moving trains. As you do.

It should be noted though, Mr Digger and his crew weren’t the first to hook up a pair of skis, a train, and a complete disregard for safety. Way back in 2013, these Polish dare devils decided to throw caution to the wind and catch a lift off the back of a train as well.

Now, at risk of sounding like Maude Flanders, it should be obvious that you really, really shouldn’t dick about with trains, or any other large, moving vehicle, whether or not it involves skis, ropes, or Russians. Just don’t, okay?
