Xavier de le Rue Goes Snowboarding On A Volcano That’s Literally Exploding

Victor de le Rue and Sam Smoothie join the crazy Frenchman as he rips around on the hottest slope on Earth

Given that they’re essentially faults in the Earth’s surface that spit out molten rock, volcanoes aren’t half sexy. What’s not to love? The look good, they’re a bit scary, they’re impressive, and they shoot fire. Volcanoes are basically the good looking one with the dragons from Game Of Thrones.

Kinda.

As such, it’s no surprise to see snowboarder Xavier de la Rue, his younger brother Victor, and skier Sam Smoothy heading to Vanuatu in the South Pacific – supposedly the happiest place in the world – to hit up Mount Yasur, the volcano on the island.

What started as a surf trip quickly turned into a chance for the boys to take their snowboards and skis up to the top of the active volcano and see if they could ride it down. Xavier de le Rue also took the opportunity to dress up in some Steam Punk gear, for reasons best known to himself.

While they were there, the volcano started spitting rocks into the air, which rained down on the chaps, but this wasn’t enough to stop them shredding some incredible lines against one of the most impressive backdrops we’ve ever seen.
