5. Cyclops – Australia
Few people have surfed Cyclops, possibly due to the fact that it’s located a solid seven hours from Perth, Australia, and can only be accessed by chartering a boat.
Cyclops is renowned for having massive, thick lips that swell from deep water, and break onto a bed of sharp coral. This unique environment gives Cyclops both it’s unique shape and it’s name, as the wave almost collapses in on itself, making it look like a giant, lone eye.
But, timing on Cyclops is everything. The unique shape of the reef on which it forms and breaks mean that some waves are perfect, but others are deformed monsters that are completely unpredictable, and can spit you out at any second. This unpredictability combines with the razor-like coral make Cyclops one of the deadliest waves around.
