#DrummondPuddleWatch: Why Did Thousands Of People Go Mad For This Puddle In Newcastle?

Believe it or not, this live-stream of a puddle became a viral sensation.

Oh, the internet. God bless the internet. It’s filled with rubbish, don’t get us wrong, but it’s also capable of throwing out some absolute gems on a fairly regular basis. The latest gem to emerge from the internet’s network of caverns, and we almost can’t believe we’re writing this, is a live stream of a puddle in Newcastle. Yes. You read that correctly. A puddle.

Using the live-streaming app Periscope, and the hashtag #Drummond PuddleWatch, people across the world were glued to their screens as northerners tried to cross the tiny “ocean”. Along the way, there was pink inflatables, wet floor signs, and some truly nail-biting jumps. Check out the highlights below, and some of the best reactions on social media.
