Garden Art Experiment: Here’s What Happens When You Throw Cans Of Spray Paint Into A Lawnmower

From art project to explosive fireball, in the blinking of an eye.

Lawnmowers. Great at mowing lawns. Can’t argue with that. Not up for discussion. If you’ve got some overgrown grass, plonk a lawnmower on it and watch it go to town. Nothing, not even a big pair of scissors, is as good at cutting grass as quickly and as effectively as a lawnmower. Nothing.

Something that lawnmowers are less good at, however, is assisting in the creation of abstract art. What?! Abstract art. You heard me. Lawnmowers are utterly incompetent when it comes to making the kind of mad canvas-splats you’ll come across while walking about the Tate Modern. Don’t believe us? Watch the video below, and you’ll see exactly what we mean.

We’re not sure how Darth Vader, who can be seen holding the lawnmower, got wrapped up in this but maybe he got so bored of flying around space destroying planets with the Death Star that he figured it would be more fun to start expressing himself through his artistic endeavours.

Let this be a lesson to you then. Don’t throw cans of spray paint at a rotating lawnmower blade. It won’t work out. Even if you’re fortunate enough to not blow yourself and/or Darth Vader up in a massive explosion, you might end up killing an innocent pigeon who just happened to be flying overheard. And that would be a real tragedy.

Lawnmowers. Incredible at mowing lawns. Shit at making art.
