Gin Yoga Is The New Fitness Craze That Started In Manchester

'Namaste, I'll have two pints of lager and a packet of crisps, please'

Finally, the worlds of Gin and Yoga have been brought together

Here, mid way through 2016, in a world where moustaches, second-hand sports goods, and naming babies with monikers usually reserved for the over 80’s, two things close to the pinnacle of  cool are yoga and gin. And by gosh, we approve.

Here at Mpora, if we’re not practicing our downward facing dog, we’re practicing our downward falling drunk after a session on the supermarket brand mothers ruin.

But surely the two worlds cannot be joined? Gin and yoga? Alcohol and exercise? They’re like chalk and cheese. Oil an water. And English sports team and sorting success.

We thought that as well. Until now.

A Gin Yoga class called YinB4Gin (trans. Yin Before Gin. It took a minute of head scratching to work it out here, after initially assuming it was a French number plate) has opened in central Manchester.

5 Bizarre Yoga Classes You Definitely Need To Try

The class teaches Yin Yang Vinyasa Flow Yoga – the kind taught by out very own Yoga Ninja Nina) – which, handily, is super helpful for snowboarders, skiers, surfers, and skaters.

And after the class, you get a free glass of soothing gin and tonic to continue that post yoga glow (a clean green juice is also available for anybody not drinking). It certainly beats trying a few stretches after a night on the sauce in Wetherspoons.
