Ever find yourself on the verge of losing control when you’re hammering down a mountain bike trail, or lose control completely and end up rolling down the rest?

Well, meet Tom Bannister. A serious crash eight years ago left him with a paralysed left arm, but he still shreds the trails really freakin’ hard – and he’s better than most as well.

The video below gives a great insight into Tom’s modified ride, how he manages to go so hard and just how talented he really is.

Speaking in the video, he says: “The hardest thing for me was the twitchiness through the steering. When I first started riding I was not using a steering damper and I was getting a lot of feedback through steering, but after six months I caught on to the fact that you could get hold of a steering damper for a mountain bike and it changed my riding completely.

“I’ve got formula leavers which are quite minimal and that enabled me to get my first finger on the front break, second finger on the back break and just set up perfectly so my hand isn’t twisted. I’ve got a good grip on the bike and enable me to ride freely.”
