This #VanLife Loving Dude’s Fiancé Insisted ‘It’s Me Or The Van’. So He Did This…

Men of the World: You have a new hero, and his name is Ross

For many, the idea of living the Van Life is the ultimate. Being totally self sufficient, completely off the grid, going where you want, when you want, answering to nobody.

To other people, however, the reality of living in the back of a small, damp, inadequate padded van that will – we guarantee – smell of either sweat, piss, petrol, or a heady combination of all three, is a little less appealing, as Aussie Ross Collings found recently.

He’d been living in the back of his van in the far north of Queensland, Australia for a few months when he took his girlfriend out for a few drinks one night. Fuelled by alcohol and romance, things escalated quickly and the couple decided there and then that they were going to get married.

However, Ross’ future dearly beloved added a clause into their agreement. She’d only tie the knot if Ross moved into a proper home or ‘at least something a bit more static’ than the van.

Now, our antipodean hero is not a man to be outmanoeuvred by a legally binding clause in a  verbal agreement. Instead of hanging up the keys to the van for good, he built this beach shack to spend the rest of his life with his wife-to-be. It’s certainly more static than the old van, right?

So, what’s the verdict? Happily married or pending divorce? We’re not sure. But, what we can say with some certainty, is that Ross, you’re an absolute #VanLife hero. Sir, we salute you.
