Teisseire Kids Week Freestyle Tour 2010

You could be forgiven for assuming that the sweet moves on display here are the work of a proper team of experienced snowboarders. And you’d be right, except this crew are a group of under 16s who took part in the Teisseire Kids’ Week Freestyle Tour 2010. The tour took in the Southern and Northern Alps before reaching its final stop at Le Grand Bornard, so these young rippers got to show off their skills across a wide range of different terrains.

A fixture of the tour was the Freestyle Air Bag, a huge 9 by 15 metre inflatable mattress which organisers set up near the competition area to allow these junior freestylers to practice and experiment with new tricks in total safety. The hard work paid off despite occasionally unfavourable weather conditions, and all of the participants were able to master some high-level snowboarding skills, such as the spins, rail slides and jumps featured in this action-packed edit

There was, however, a competitive element to proceedings, and the coaches (pro snowboarders Aymeric Tonin, Alluan Ricardi and Kevin Rolland) awarded first prizes to Lola Nicolai for the girls’ under 16 snowboard, Theo Ramon for the boys’ under 13 snowboard and Louis Labertrande for the boys’ under 16 snowboard.

The guys at Chrome Productions have done an excellent job putting together this video of the tour, which really captures how much talent and energy these kids brought to the slopes. Based on what we’ve seen so far, we might be hearing a lot more from many of these budding freestyle snowboard champions in years to come.
