Video of BMXers Breaking into Waterpark Passes Six Million Views… And Police Are Now Investigating

Breaking the internet... Breaking the law?

YouTube POV BMX sensation Billy Perry broke into a neglected water park with his mates and did some serious riding – but he’s now suffering the consequences after being accused of doing “thousands of dollars” worth of damage to the park.

The 15-minute video uploaded to YouTube – scroll down to watch – has now been viewed over six million times online, but after being busted on the day by a security guard and furthermore now that the video has gone so huge, he’s got himself into more than a little trouble.

Mike Bengtson, the park manager of Splish Splash, told how the security guard told Riverhead Police: “There was damage to the attractions. We don’t know the extent of that damage yet but they will all need to be re-inspected. We just had some slides that we re-coated this year which was very expensive for us.”

The 15 minute video went on YouTube on 27 November and is already sitting on well over six million views. It shows the group jumping a fence to gain entry to the park and then setting about taking on the slides.

On his YouTube video, Perry writes: “We talked about sneaking in and riding this waterpark for years. Thanksgiving day came and it was finally time to head out at 6 AM in hopes of riding the waterpark and not getting arrested. The day was absolutely insane and then we got spotted by Security.”

We don’t know much about water park maintenance but it looks to us like the park has been largely neglected for some time now, with a lot of leaves kicking about on the attractions and nothing looking in gleaming condition.

Sgt. Harry Hill of Riverhead Police said that the police are currently working to identity each of the riders and are concerned that similar incidents may occur in the future.

He told Riverhead News-Review: “We’re conducting extra patrols in the area of Splish Splash in case of any copycats.”
