Were The Movies Right? Here’s What A Gun Shot Actually Looks Like in Super Slow-Mo

Watch the ferocious footage of a pistol being fired at 73,000 frames per second...

It’s pretty rare that you get to see a real-life gun fired under any circumstances outside of the cinema, so to see a pistol shot recorded at 73,000 frames per second makes for a very special watch indeed.

The footage comes from the dudes at Mythbusters on the Discovery channel, and while we’re not sure exactly what myth they’re actually busting, the pressure and fire on show in the slow-motion is more than a little bit mesmerising.

Get your bullet proof vests or your mithril armour on people – not really, it’s only a video, so you don’t need the former, and the latter is a fictional metal from Lord of the Rings – and give this a watch. Who knew all those slow-mos in the movies were pretty much spot on…?
