Watch: Hippo-Shaped Superhero Saves A Young Zebra From Drowning

Here's how a humble hippopotamus won the heart of the human race...

Now, we know you’re probably here to see a video of a hippo saving a zebra from possible death, and we’ll get to that, but because of who we are as people here at Mpora, you’re going to have to sit through some terrible jokes first.

  • What do you call a hippopotamus who does things that he tells you not to? A hippocrite.
  • How do you get a hippopotamus to do what you want it to? You hipponotise it.
  • What do you call a hippopotamus who doesn’t have a job, lazes about all day, doesn’t take the bins out and bathes in its own filth? No, not your flatmate Steve. A hippopota-mess. Of course.

*Pause for laughter.*

Anyway, now that we’ve got that out of the way, here’s a video of a hippopotamus saving a zebra from drowning in the middle of a river in Africa, set to music that’d probably be more suited to The Legend of Zelda. Hell yeah.

Commonly described as the most dangerous mammal in Africa, the hippo in this video was clearly out to put an end to the fear and show that most hippos have a heart of gold.

Watch the footage above as the hippo nudges the drowning zebra across the river until it can claw itself up on the other side. FYI, the zebra appears about the 1:05 mark.

Maybe hippos aren’t so scary after all. Or who knows, maybe the zebra hipponotised it.
