Danny MacAskill Hit This Floating Loop-The-Loop… In Front Of The London Eye

Watch the Scottish trials icon hit this five metre full loop in a visually stunning but slightly melodramatic display

Danny MacAskill returned for his latest stunt last night, hitting a five metre loop-the-loop in front of the London Eye.

The showcase, in promotion of personal assistant software Cortana – Microsoft’s answer to Apple’s Siri – was over pretty quickly, with Danny taking on a “death-defying stunt” that had “never been seen before”… Except when he did a slightly smaller loop-the-loop in ‘Imaginate‘ of course.

Seriously, as impressive as Danny was (he also pulled a three before dropping into the loop), the stunt was somewhat overshadowed by the ridiculously dramatic nature of the build-up to the stunt.

The focal loop was placed in front of a big circular screen showing a shining picture of the moon and occasionally flashing up the hashtag for the event – #makeithappen.

By the time we had been warmed up with ten minutes of insanely intense scene-setting music though – think the trailer for the Dark Knight Rises – we were less tweeting #makeithappen and more yelling it at the organising outfit.

The build-up had us waiting for a MacAskill-Bat-signal to project over London, and for the Scotsman to drop in wearing a cape and black armour before riding off to become the hero that London deserves.

An impressive stunt by the trials bike icon, and an admittedly memorable event from the team at Microsoft, but maybe focus more on the bike next time and less on the drama!
