These Dutch Guys Have Reinvented The Bicycle… And It’s Really, Really Fast

Engineers create pedal-powered madness dubbed "Formula One for bicycles"...

Meet The Human Power Team, a Dutch organisation who are trying to reinvent the bicycle – and giving it one hell of a go.

Basically, these guys from the Netherlands decided to show how fast you can go with pure muscle power, creating a high-tech recumbent bicycle, ‘the VeloX 3’, which reaches speeds of up to 133.78km/h.

It set a new world record for the fastest pedal-powered vehicle out there, as you’d expect, and as lead engineer Dennis Berckmoes puts it: “This is Formula One for bicycles”.

This video sees Motherboard visit the Human Power Team in Delft, where the crew were preparing for their next world record attempt. Have a watch and see what you think! Would you give it a shot?
