These Skydiving Maniacs Shot Their Own Canopies With A Flare Gun… Here’s What Happened Next‏

This is definitely one of the most bewildering videos we've seen in a while...

If you’ve ever been skydiving, you’ll undoubtedly have come across the old Eastern European proverb: “he who leaps without a flare gun does not really leap at all.”

Of course, we just made that thoughtful maxim up on the spot, but that doesn’t mean that it isn’t still true. A little bit at least. The proverb isn’t any crazier than the scenes in the video above, anyway.

These daredevil skydivers were filming for stunt series Living The Dream (LTD), when they decided that skydiving was no longer thrilling enough. Ergo, they took a couple of flare guns with them, burned their original canopies away and then deployed their backups to safely sail to the ground in badass style.

Long story short, the dudes basically jumped out of the frying pan and into the fire, almost literally – or entirely literally if their plane was named or shaped at all like a frying pan, which we’re really, really hoping it was for the sake of this poorly constructed pun.

Sure enough, they also triggered an inevitable backlash from plenty of other parachutists, who have labelled them “simply stupid”, “irresponsible”, and even “a slight on the entire sport”.

Still, haters gonna to hate, flare-gun-skydiving-maniacs gonna flare-gun-skydiving-maniac. We know which one we’d rather watch…
