Drone earth porn footage may be all the rage but this new Teton Gravity Research film of The Himalayas at 20,000 ft reminds us that a man hanging out of a helicopter with a camera can still very much rule. Especially when his camera’s the most advanced gyro-stabilised camera system in the world (the GSS 2520).
The crew flew from Kathmandu at 4,600 ft up to 24,000 ft on supplemental oxygen and the footage provides an awesome and unique perspective on the Himalayan peaks including Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam and Lhotse.
Snowboarders and skiers may even see some lines that look eminently rideable, in the way everything looks eminently rideable when there’s no way on earth you’ll ever have to ride it.
