Did Mark Cavendish ‘Head Butt’ Grzegorz Stepniak in Dramatic Sprint Finish of Dubai Tour Stage?

...the Manx rider had a strange mix up in the final moments of the stage

You see the tweet, you read the hype, you play out the scenario before you’ve even seen the footage.

It’s the finishing stretch of stage two of the Dubai Tour, and you’ve read that British road cycling favourite Mark Cavendish has head butted a Pole who has held him up. This sounds interesting.

What you’re really hoping for when you read this though is a video of Cavendish dismounting from his bike and going full-on Zinedine Zidane on a rival, or, y’know, an actual pole.

What actually happens is that indeed, Cav moves his head in the direction of Grzegorz Stepniak, around the one minute mark, but as far as we can see it’s nothing sinister.

Cav can be seen below wearing the red jersey which denotes him as the leader of the sprint classification.

There would’ve been little point in the Manchester rider risking penalties by getting involved in something odd like this, as he was already relatively far behind in the stage, and to be fair, he doesn’t seem to be overly bothered about his placement either.

It looks like Stepniak got a little too close to Cavendish though and caused the Manx lad to lash out in frustration. Have a watch and let us know what you think – as far as we’re concerned, no harm done:
