Meet Donovan Tildesley. He’s a skier.

“Big deal,” I hear you cry, “…loads of people are skiers.”

That’s true. There are undoubtedly a lot of skiers in the world. However, the truly remarkable thing about Donovan (the skier) is that he’s been blind since birth. We’ll let that sink in for a second.

The Winter Within is a beautiful short film that explores the incredible and inspirational story of Donovan, who’s been experiencing the idyllic slopes of British Columbia since he was two-years-old.

Donovan’s love for the mountains, and his refusal to let his disability stop him from enjoying the thrill of skiing, is testament to the human spirit and its innate ability to overcome whatever obstacles get in the way.

This is a man, lest we forget, who has lived his life without the sight we all take for granted. But, has he wallowed in sadness and self-pity? No. He’s got out there, and he’s lived his life on his own terms. If that doesn’t make you want to re-evaluate your outlook on the world, nothing will.
