There are so many winter mountain bike ‘edits’ clogging up the internet these days it’s difficult for the really exceptional videos to stand out. With their effort Not Another Winter Video, the guys at Dirt TV have really tried to focus on exactly what people want to see. They’ve come up with an incredible mix of wild cornering, gaps and hucks, all delivered by youngster Elliott Heap using his 130mm trail bike, usually without touching the ground!
Young Elliott was only sixteen years old when this was filmed, an age when most of us were still loitering outside the off-licence trying to persuade passers by to fetch us a four pack of warm lager. He’s now seventeen, and has secured himself a place on Chain Reaction Cycles’ junior downhill racing team. It just shows what teenagers can achieve when they put their minds to it (if only we’d known!), and is a great example of the huge potential of the UK’s winter trail bike scene.
Coming from a motocross background, Elliott brings some raw talent and fresh energy to the team, and joins seasoned pros Sam Hill, Joe Smith and Mike Jones. This young rider is a real ‘one to watch’ and is expected to enhance the team hugely. He’s bound to progress rapidly from junior racing, so stay tuned for great things from him in the years to come.
It’s enough to put the rest of us old-timers to shame. So however cold and damp it might be out there, dust off that bike and get stuck in!
