Meet Mr Smith, Smith the Rucksack. He’s the newest member of the Millican family. You know, the lighter, fitter, nippier cousin. He’s also partly bionic (more of that soon). He, like you, leads an original life. He’s designed for adventures, designed for the spirit of the open road and the open hillside. He’ll thrive when launched on to the top of a Bolivian bus or when slung down on a windy Lake District mountaintop.
But what about details? The 25-litre Smith the Rucksack, part of Millican’s Maverick range, which we’re getting to know today, is lightweight and weatherproof. The Bionic bit of him is the canvas made from 57 per cent recycled polyester and 38 per cent cotton.
The remaining 5 per cent is a high-tenacity polyester, and that’s what makes this canvas Bionic – up to 30 per cent stronger than even regular canvas. Fewer seams means a stronger pack too. And all that strength is made weatherproof with the impregnation of paraffin wax – a never-bettered weatherproofing treatment for canvas.
