‘Changed my skiing’ and ‘best I’ve had’ are two of the responses we received from women raving about their Head Raptors. We aren’t surprised by the Raptors’ applause-worthy performance, given their catchphrase is ‘World Cup performance meets world class fit’.
You’ll spot the black and white boots with their skeleton-like buckles peppering World Cup race circuits as well as freeride faces on the soles of Wendy Holdener to Hedvig Wessel. Updated for 2021/22, the Raptor WCR 120 S leads the pack in Head’s line up of general-purpose race boots, second only in stiffness and narrowness to Head’s athlete-specific range.
Head Raptor WCR 130 S Build
The Raptor WCR 120 S’s construction is designed to replicate your foot’s movements in the most direct, accurate, and powerful way possible. So, everything about this boot is slick.
The double power booster Velcro strap and Head’s hallmark micro-adjustable ‘Spineflex’ buckles wrap around your shin and foot to optimise power transmission. Similarly, an updated cuff alignment system minimises friction between the boot’s shell and cuff and an elongated toe-box provides enhanced torsional rigidity.
The Raptor WCR 120 S derives its solid 120 flex (130 with the insertion of an extra spine bolt) from a hefty construction of PU plastic. Plus, the 2021 PU material creates a more progressive flex, offering ‘smoother rebound’ and ‘less vibration’ – a welcome update for skiers ramping up the pressure from 0 to 100 in milliseconds.
