In what is quite possibly the best competition ever to exist, or an act of sublime viral marketing, or most likely both. A lady in Maine, USA is offering up her historic inn as a prize in an essay-writing contest.
So if you’re sick of the city and want an awesome country pile, with an actual porch, that boasts a spectacular view of the Presidential Range of the White Mountains of New Hampshire, and a nearby lake where you can canoe and fish, get typing the essay of your life.
Even if you haven’t written anything since school or uni and can’t really be arsed, your chances of owning a property in any other scenario are pretty much plummeting by the second.
And Janice Sage of the Center Lovell Inn, which is three hours’ drive north of Boston, hasn’t lost leave of her senses. She’s just passing on a tradition, for she herself had come to own the property having won a contest to write a similar essay 22 years ago.
She’s now ready to retire, hence the new contest.The rules for which can be found here. She isn’t giving much away, aside from saying the gig wouldn’t be an easy one and would involve working 17-hour days. Still, with that view as a constant backdrop, you’d get over it.
