Astronomists from MIRA public observatory registered the constellation last night, to permanently secure the starman’s mark in our skies.
The stars create a perfect replica of Ziggy’s iconic lightning bolt, in the vicinity of Mars.
“Referring to his various albums, we chose seven stars” says Philippe Mollet.
“Sigma Librae, Spica, Alpha Virginis, Zeta Centauri, SAA 204 132, and the Beta Sigma Octantis Trianguli Australis.”
“The constellation is a copy of the iconic Ziggy lightning bolt and was recorded at the exact time of his death.”
The constellation is part of Stardust for Bowie tribute project, where fans can use Google Sky to add their favorite Bowie songs with a short note to the universe.
