Does anyone else in the UK find it strange that the supermarkets and hardware stores still put out sledges and snow shovels as soon as the leaves on the ground have turned dark and soggy and autumn draws to a chilly close? Even as the winters here seem to grow milder by the year, and anything more than a smattering of snow feels like an increasingly remote possibility, there they are, regular as clockwork and always at a drastically reduced price.
Perhaps like us they’re old enough to remember the times when a decent snowfall was a regular fixture of the colder season, even if it didn’t often coincide with Christmas (the ultimate icing on the Yuletide cake). Kids back then would be amazed if they could have seen this Keystone Kid of the Week video of an adorable little girl called Aspen making her first steps into snowboarding. Aspen is having heaps of fun at the Burton Riglet Park which is located at the Mountain Creek ski resort, New Jersey, USA.
The Burton Riglet Park has been carefully developed for children aged 5 and under to provide them with an excellent first introduction to snowboarding and the basic skills inherent in all winter sports. Burton’s patented Riglet Reel technology, combined with small terrain features and specially designed children’s boards, creates a fun and safe environment to guide these mini shredders through the movements and sensations of sliding on the snow. It’s a far cry from scooting down the hill on your mum’s old tea tray, but certainly just as much fun!
