It’s pretty rare that we get excited by a water slide, but when we heard that this new one was so gnarly it required riders to use a protective cage, we had to take a closer look.
This is the ‘SkyCaliber V2’, and the whole ‘protective cage’ deal isn’t the only reason it attracted our attention.
It’s 90ft tall and kicks off with a giant 45ft free fall for starters. It then hammers through a 30ft loop-the-loop before firing to the finish and hitting the user with up to 6 full G’s in the process. Hefty stuff.
The slide will also be breaking three world records when it opens. The full loop is the tallest ever on a water slide, the vertical drop is the first ever, and the 50mph that the user will be travelling means that this is the fastest water slide ever as well.

Obviously all of this is pretty dangerous, so that’s where the protective cage comes in. It features “roller coaster inspired safety restraints” that allow riders to rotate 360 degrees in the slide.
Just so you don’t actually die while you’re already scared shitless.
The beastly attraction was developed in Missouri and will cost from $1,400,000 for a client to purchase when it launches in 2015.
