In life, there’s things that are obviously worth getting excited about. A new album by your favourite band, a ski trip to the French Alps, that Bank Holiday weekend you’ve had circled on your calendar for the last six months; these are all things to write home about. But, rain? I mean, really, what is there to say about it that hasn’t already been said?
It’s wet, it’s damp, and it stops the world from shrivelling up like a prune. This is not a criticism of rain. We’re grateful for everything it does for us, and understand that the human race would be in a wee bit of trouble if it never rained again, it’s just that we’ve never found ourselves getting excited about it. But, maybe that’s just because we’re British and walking around in the rain is our national sport.
