The Big Freeze | Snowboarder Casey Neistat Goes Viral Shredding Streets of New York

...there's a reason this has hit almost five million views in two days

It’s been a tough year for snow so far. If you had an early January trip booked out to the mountains, or god forbid anything earlier, there’s a good chance you might have had to reschedule or even just get on a bike instead of a board or skis. It’s just not been happening.

And then, one fateful day, it did. And it doesn’t seem to have stopped since.

The snow dump came in France, in Switzerland, in Austria, in Scotland, around Europe and now – in the Big Apple.

No, not on a big Apple. In thee Big Apple. Seriously? Never heard that expression? New York. We’re talking about New York. Come on people. It’s in the headline.

That’s right, in the city that never sleeps – except sometimes at night if they have work the next morning or are just generally tired – the snow has come, and it’s taken over both the entire city and the entire internet as a consequence.

Shots of Central Park and the famous NYC skyline commandeered social media over the weekend, and some entrepreneurial chaps even decided that it’d be the perfect time to get a shred on. We like their style.

How we hear you ask? There are no hills or mountains in the middle of New York, no black runs or moguls in the city, no snow parks or tree runs that lead down to the edge of the Empire State? We’d know if there were. We’ve watched Friends.

But feast your eyes on this footage from YouTube sensation Casey Neistat, who decided to strap into his snowboard and get a car to tow him about town, round some of the busiest streets and most famous sights in the world.

This is one hell of a video. Watching it? We feel like Leonardo Di Caprio taking a tour of Meryl Streep’s award cabinet; excited, jealous, frustrated, sexually confused. The footage has already racked up over 4.5 million hits, which should tell you everything you need to know…

…and if you really enjoyed that, here’s the behind-the-scenes:
