Brutal Tour de France Crash Sees Team Sky Rider Hurl Head First into Telegraph Pole

Geraint Thomas took a horrible hit on a pole after a nudge from an out-of-control rider...

It’s been a controversial Tour de France this year full of broken bones, pile-ups and flying cups of urine, and there’s been another brutal incident late in stage 16 of the race.

The crash came after an out-of-control Warren Barguil nudged Team Sky rider Geraint Thomas on a corner, sending him hurling into a telegraph pole at high speed. Needless to say, the footage speaks a lot louder than words can on this one:

Thankfully, reports from after the incident suggest that Thomas somehow managed to make it out unscatched, not only getting back up and finishing the stage, but doing so quick enough to secure he maintains his sixth overall position in the Tour.

Good work Thomas, and unlucky about the crash. We hope there’s no further injuries and you’ll be back to your best in the next few days!
