As big cabin fans, we were surprised these awesome wooden shacks only got the number ten spot on this list

There’s just something inherently adventurous about the idea of staying in a tiny wooden house in the middle of a forest and the ‘Handcrafted Hideaway,’ situated near Mendocino in the US, is what #cabinporn dreams are made of.

Sleep among redwood trees, only a few miles from the wild Pacific Ocean and just a walk from the historic village of Mendocino.

Sounds like our kind of holiday…..

8) Train

This is where things get a little ore bizarre. The eighth most wished for accommodation?

…Trains.

Yup, people have grown tired of only travelling in metal carriages and are now moving their train time into everyday life.

All joking aside however, this train conversion in Australia is pretty freakin’ cool.

The two  carriages contain a lounge with open fire and long table, two bathrooms, and a full kitchen with an outdoor open fire.

What more, the train is situated slap bang in the middle of a working vineyard.

7) Yurt

Back in 2014, the yurt was named as the number one hip accommodation choice.

Now, unless you’re a young family heading to Wilderness Festival, you’re less likely to be investing in one.

That doesn’t mean to say however that you can’t still find an awesome one  to rent for a week from someone.

This yurt in France has a 360 ° surrounding view on Baujus mountains. Try getting that anywhere with real buildings….

5) Cave

This might be our favourite AirBnb option ever.

Renting out your own cave for the week?! So rad.

This cave is in the Australian outback and the rental includes this awesome space, near to modern cave dwellers (troglodytes), as well as a private lodge for up to 16 guests.

It costs £122 a night, so bring 15 friends and you’ve got your own cave for less than eight pounds a head. Crazy stuff….

4) Lighthouse

This one we understand, who doesn’t want to live in a lighthouse?

There’s something very magical and child like about lighthouses and getting to sleep in one is a little like being allowed to stay after closing hours at a museum or zoo.

This one in Port Washington is super whimsical and not too far away from the city, for when you grow tired of watching ships and fancy having a wander…

3) Van

Who knew you could rent vans on AirBnb?!

This pink van is the stuff tumblr posts are made of and looks just as amazing on the inside.

Even better, it’s actually an old Swedish fire truck and used to be the personal car for the chief of the fire department in Göteborg, Sweden.

Not only was the treehouse named the most wished for type of accommodation, this exact treehouse is the most wished for rental on the site!

‘The Secluded Intown Treehouse‘ is  a suite of 3 connected treehouse rooms within the secluded in town neighborhood of Buckhead.

Each structure is beautifully furnished with antiques, natural artifacts and the sounds of nature around you.

You can see why everyone wants to stay here! Time to get on the end of the (very long) waiting list….
