Chris Froome’s dream of becoming only the third rider to complete a Tour de France-Vuelta a Espana double in the same season is over after a fractured foot lead to his withdrawal from the race.
The Team Sky icon crashed early on in the 138km stage 11 from Andorra, injuring his shoulder, leg and fracturing his navicular bone in his foot.
Froome would go on to finish the stage, and his valiant efforts were captured in the on-bike footage below, but ultimately he lost over seven minutes on Astana race leader Fabio Aru and his chances of the victory as well.
