We’ve picked our 10 favourite suggestions from the site. They all scored “great” for air quality, all except three had an internet speed of 5 MBPS and above, and the average monthly cost of living for each was 1400 US Dollars (£920) and below. With some as low as 453 US Dollars (£300)! The weather doesn’t look half bad either.

Any downsides? Scam merchants skim money at some ATMs, so it’s best to use the ones inside banks or hotels.

Best for…surfers, kitesurfers, stand up paddle fans, yoga-lovers.

Any downsides…the roads can be a bit nuts and it gets super-super-hot in summer.

Best for… foodies, urban lovers, who also want to live a 2 hr train ride away from a volcano and two amazing national parks.

Any downsides? Violent crime is rare but watch out for pickpockets, especially those who accidentally spit on you, as that’s randomly all part of their scam.

Best for…divers, snorkellers, hikers, animal lovers, especially Orangutan fans.
