Know that awesome headcam footage you’ve been showing all your mates recently? Well you maybe should’ve shot it into GoPro and Pinkbike’s ‘GoPro of the World’ contest – because it might have just won you $20,000.
On the other hand though, if you’re not already a professional mountain biker, that prospect would’ve been pretty damn unlikely.
The contest got going a full four months ago, and there have been some absolutely insane lines submitted from around the world. The professionals are professional for a reason though, so it’s no surprise that when they got involved, they stole the show.
Kurt Sorge took the first placed price with this awesome footage, which for one reason or another, GoPro decided to edit some slow-mo into for their final release, despite the fact that a) all entries to the comp had to be submitted raw, and b) the unedited version is much gnarlier anyway.
In second place was this awesome feature including wall rides and flipping fun from Chris Van Dine from the Taxco Downhill at the end of February:
…And coming in third was this epic effort from Ludo May. A cool snow line in Verbier which shows style for miles and pretty much defines ‘steeze’.
There’s been a bit of controversy over whether or not professionals should’ve been allowed to enter and what not, but at the end of the day, they came up with some absolutely absurd lines. Nice work to all the winners!
It’s well worth checking out these videos too from Remy Metallier and Antoine Bizet which didn’t even make it to the podium… Clearly the standard was high!
