Tom van de Beek has taken a clapped-out caravan and turned it into a workspace that’s perfect for anyone with even a passing interest in the spirit of adventure and the great outdoors. Writing about Tom van de Beek’s caravan on a Monday morning, while trapped in our office, is probably one of the hardest things we’ve ever had to do.
Yes, we know that working is part of life and that you can’t get some sweet juice without squeezing the orange from time to time but, come on, look at how idyllic this set up is. Look at it, and tell us it doesn’t make you want to press your face mournfully against the window and cry your “nine-to-five” eyeballs out.
The office-caravan runs off solar energy, and provides Van de Beek with more than enough electricity to charge his laptop and his phone. The space also has LED-lights, a couch for the chill-times, and a cheeky little espresso machine. We’re currently walking the rope between genuine admiration for Van de Beek, and hateful jealousy.
Van de Beek, an entrepreneur by trade, built the mobile office because he thought it would be “…awesome to be in the wilderness as much as possible.” It’s pretty much impossible to disagree with that sentiment; a message that we can definitely get on board with.
Tom’s company is currently transforming more vintage caravans into micro-offices, thus making it possible for you, your friend, your other friend, your dad, your mum, your friend’s mum, and that person you always see on the commute to do their business in the woods.
