Ever Seen A Front Flip Fakie On A Mountain Bike Before? It’s Absolutely Ridiculous…

Antti Rissanen caused quite a stir when he dropped this all-action edit earlier this week...

Antti Rissanen has caused quite a stir with his latest edit. It’s filmed in a skate park and is jam-packed with absolutely massive tricks.

From tailwhip 360s to backflip bar spins and humongous wall taps, there’s a whole lot to enjoy in the edit, but it’s the climax that really got people talking – the mountain bike front flip fakie. Was it the world’s first, as claimed in the video description?

Well, the short answer is no, although you won’t find anyone in their right mind who will tell you that it wasn’t pretty damn impressive.

As the 22 year old Finn pointed out on his Facebook in the aftermath of the edit, it doesn’t really matter whether you’re the first person to land a trick or not. At the end of the day, you should be riding for yourself and against yourself, and having a whole lot of fun while you’re at it.

“Turned out that the fakie frontflip has been done already by few guys on MTB earlier and I want to give all the credit for those few guys who did it,” the status said.

“Anyhow, it doesn’t make really a difference to me if I’m not the first to do it, since when I landed this beast I got really pumped up about it and it gave me a reminder of what are the best feelings you can achieve in this sport.

“Pushing myself to do something totally outside my comfort zone and something I’ve wanted to do for a while gives such a rewarding feeling afterwards and that’s pretty much what drives me the most to keep up trying new stuff and progressing!”

Nice one Antti, and congrats on a slamming edit. As for when the first mountain bike front flip fakie was landed? We trace it back to the ‘Trail Pimpin’ edit below from Root one productions, released way back in 2013.

It’s well worth sparing nine minutes of your day to have a full viewing of the short film, but if you’re just after the money shot, fast forward to four minutes in and be amazed.
