Finding the balance between the sport you love and the other, less interesting bits in life such as work and paying bills, can sometimes be a struggle. Who hasn’t found themselves staring out of the window on the perfect riding day, only to be chained to the desk with deadlines looming?
But wait! It doesn’t have to be that way. Why work all day doing what you hate so you can spend your down time doing what you love. Why not turn what you love into a job?
You don’t have to be a pro to make cycling work for you. Take Ricky Feather for example. The Yorkshire man fell in love with all things two-wheeled when he saw some local youths on BMX’s, and he hasn’t looked back since.
He’s now the owner, designer, builder, and head tea maker at Feather Cycles – the business he’s built up from scratch. After becoming a welder straight out of school, he soon realised that he could merge the only two things he knew – making bits of metal stick to other bits of metal, and bikes, and make these passions his life.
Feather started by making a handful of bikes just for himself and a couple of friends to ride, but soon found his skills in high demand.
So why not take a leaf out of Ricky Feathers book. Make your love your life. Unless your work behind the bar in our local. In which case, you stay right there. We need you…
