In what is probably the most inevitable occurrence of the New Year so far, a Siberian cross-country skier was plunged into freezing water recently after skiing onto fragile ice and bashing it with poles.
What an idiot.
Thankfully, the rider got out alright, and better yet, he was wearing a GoPro, so his idiocy is now immortalized on YouTube for ourselves, our children and our great, great grandchildren to enjoy.
We imagine they’ll have replaced YouTube by the time our great, great grandchildren have had kids.
The clip comes from Lake Baikal in Russia, and the lesson is clear – if you set out skiing on thin frozen ice and smack it with metal poles, you’re probably going to end up a little bit chilly.
