It’s six foot long, weighs 100 pounds and it’s controlled by the US Navy. Yep, it’s a torpedo shaped like a shark and moves exactly like one too. Freaky, right?
According to The Inertia, the GhostSwimmer was developed by the US Navy to look like a blue tuna with fish-like movements through the water, making it harder to spot on sonar. It’s controlled by a joystick and can dive as deep as 300ft.

So far, it’s cost US $1 million to develop. That’s a lot of a dollar to spend on a robotic shark. Last year, they moved it into the ‘Rapid Innovation Cell’ in the US Navy’s Office of Naval Research, so sounds like their taking the whole very seriously…
