Watch: Cyclist Apologises After Head On Collision Crash With Rider in London

...this is the most English cycling crash you'll ever see

There are a lot of hazards out there on the roads. Any keen road cyclist or regular commuter will know that. From cars to taxis to buses to poorly designed cycle paths and even other cyclists, getting from A to B in the city is often more of an obstacle course than it is a peaceful pedal.

The thing about when one cyclist gets in the way of another is it can often get quite brutal. Bike on bike crashes aren’t nice – though they are better than getting hit by a four-sided metal box with an engine – and they tend to go one of two ways after.

The first, and probably the more commonly seen, piece of behaviour after two riders collide, is that they’ll stand at the side of the road arguing for quite some time, pissing off all the other cyclists that go past and giving the folk in the metal death-machines a smirk.

The second, and much more preferable outcome, is that one of the cyclists apologises and owns up to an honest mistake – because they’re a good human being and despite their error, are in fact setting an example for how not to be a giant douchebag in a modern society jam-packed with people who have not yet figured that out.

That’s exactly what happened in the video below when two cyclists collided on CS3 on Cable Street in London – with the cyclist responsible apologising, as the British do, before the crash has even happened.

Uploader Cameron Primrose noted that he had stuck up the footage since all his mates wanted to see it but took full responsibility for the vid, hence the title of the clip and the accompanying description: “wouldn’t we all be hypocrites if we call out other people’s mistakes but never acknowledge our own.”

He also added that the car turning down the cycle lane in front of him had put him off, and that the other cyclist involved was alright!

“By the time I saw the other cyclist approaching, my thinking was, if I go left, he’ll continue around the cycle lane left hand edge, keeping to his left and I might just get past in front of him and he go round my back. As he didn’t follow the left hand edge my assumption put us on a direct collision course!! Whoops.

“I made sure he was ok and we shook hands and went on our way. No harm no foul.

“To the cyclist I hit, if you’re watching this, I’m very sorry. It was totally my fault. At least we can get some crash footage entertainment out of it!”
