If social commentators and some futurologists are to be believed, drones and robots are basically 18 months away from taking control of the planet, decimating our food supplies, and forcing us to do menial chores around the house. That’s where we’re heading, folks. Sorry to tell you this so close to Christmas but it’s true.
Why are we feeling so bummed about drones? Because one of them has nearly wiped out Marcel Hirscher at a slalom skiing event in Italy (Madonna di Campiglio).
Hirscher was 10 seconds into his second run at the event when the drone suddenly fell from the sky and crashed spectacularly on the slope just behind him. Fortunately, the Austrian ski racer came away from the scary moment unscathed and he was able to cross the finishing line without further incident.
