Watch The Moment 100 Sharks Turned A North Carolina Beach Into Their Dinner

When some fishermen went out to catch their dinner, they didn't expect to see this.

Screen Shot: YouTube.

We don’t know how to tell you this, without inciting a hurricane of panic, but the sharks have been scouting beaches for a land invasion. Normally, that sentence would sound like the ravings of a person not quite in touch with reality. This video filmed on the shore of North Carolina, however, suggests that the walking-shark fears might hold a grain of truth.

Admittedly, the grain of truth would be quite small; the size of a grain that’s been cut in half perhaps but… look, let’s start again. What I’m trying to tell you is that a video has landed on our desks of a shark feeding frenzy occurring just an arm’s length from dry land. How we hadn’t seen this before, we’ll never know. It’s absolutely nuts.

The incident, which involved over 100 sharks attacking a school of blue fish, occurred at the end of last year at Cape Lookout National Seashore. The men who filmed the incident were fishing for that evening’s dinner when they stumbled across the blue fish buffet. As the footage shows, it wasn’t just sharks getting involved; you can also see seagulls and pelicans swooping down to join the meal.

There’s a bit towards the end of the video, where one of the sharks seems to forget it’s a shark. It’s a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment where the shark looks like it’s not going to stop its inland charge until it’s perched on a stool at the local bar, sipping a “brewski”, and chatting up a nice waitress…called Pam.

Then the shark remembers everything; remember it’s a shark, and heads back to rejoin the feeding frenzy in the shallow waters.
