Frenchman Xavier de le Rue is probably the best freerider ever to step on a snowboard. He has a whole string of crazy first descents under his belt – including several mental ones in Antarctica, a place where few people have been, let alone ridden.
But in case any further confirmation were needed of his insane talent (or his desire to throw himself in harms way in pursuit of a great line) then this should settle it.
“There are so many mental moments here it’s hard to know which ones to highlight.”
It’s his latest video part, taken from Transworld Snowboarding’s Nation video, but only released online a few days ago. And it is absolutely batshit crazy.
There are so many mental moments here it’s hard to know which ones to highlight, but the one where he has to abseil down a huge serac before ollieing over a band of rock to drop into a line is pretty up there. And that fall at 3.34? So crazy.
