11 Ingenious Examples Of Retired BMX Bikes Being Reinvented As Furniture

Done with your old ride? Why not take those forks and make them into a dinner table...

It’s pretty hard to write off a bike completely, but most of us will have retired a frame or two in our time.

So, what should you do with your old bike when the shiny new one arrives and you’ve got another four to go with it in a cupboard at the end of the hall? Well, you could make it into a new dinner table. These guys did.

BMX furniture is actually quite a thriving scene; taking old parts from BMX bikes and upcycling it into something useful.

Here are some ideas, but first, let’s start off with one from carpenter and BMXer Joe Tek which isn’t actually from an old bike, but is badass.

Joe is a talented man with his hands. He makes a whole range of stuff, including this badass Federal Custom Coffee Table, which you can buy here.

Bike Furniture Design come out of Michigan, United States and have a pretty wide range of stuff made from bike parts, to this mirror made from a BMX wheel, and matching mirror clock, to this bike wheel bar stool and lounge chair, which err, doesn’t look particularly comfortable.

This awesome desk is made out of two Subrosa Letum completes and was made by Robi, Subrosa’s Italian distributor at Frontocean.

We found this bike table on Etsy, unfortunately all sold out. We like what’s on top of the table just as much as we like the table. Good choice.

This end table is made from the front end of a Haro BMX. The Haro bars, grips and tyre remain intact and the top actually spins, which if we’re being honest, doesn’t seem overly practical. Looks cool, though.

Another rad table made from bike wheels and propped up by forks, albeit most likely from a mountain bike rather than a BMX.

We like this a lot! A bike wheel chopped and cut up into a lamp. Super simple. Super cool.
