Action sports and the law enforcement don’t always have the most hospitable of relationships.
Take these BMXers in the States for example, they were arrested for riding in a skate park after closing hours, a ridiculous story by itself, but what happened next was even more unbelievable.
When the riders began to argue that it was their legal right to be able to film their conversation with the officers, one of the policemen retorts: “you don’t have any legal rights right now because right now you just broke the law.”
Now we didn’t go to law school, but we’re not quite sure that’s how it works.
Seriously though, the logic of the police officers is all over the place here. The riders argue that they were trying to leave when they were detained for not leaving, to which the officer responds “…that doesn’t matter”.
An attorney for the group now holds the full 20 minute version of the conversation between the riders and police, and the incident is being investigated further by local authorities.
