Camping in London isn’t something you might not have considered before. However, if you are a looking to spend your holiday in London, camping might be the most affordable way to do it.

Lee Valley Campsite is ideal if you want to pitch your tent near London. It’s set in the middle of the River Lee Country Park – and it’s only 30 minutes from central London by public transport.

There are dozens of caravan and tent pitch sites as well as wooden pods (or cocoons) and cabins to sleep in. Also there is 1,000 acres of traffic-free cycling and hiking trails to explore plus it’s a great place for white water rafting.

Located near Hampton Court Palace, the Walton on Thames campsite is leafy and spacious campsite, despite being within the M25.

It’s just a 45 minute ride on the train into central London. If you want to stay in the area, there are plenty of walks along the river, llama trekking, golf and horse riding nearby.

There’s even a pick-your own fruit and vegetable site (during summer season) just ten minutes drive away.

Abbey Wood Caravan Club Campsite

Abbey Wood Campsite is an ideal setting for campers wanting to get into London quickly.

Nestled near Greenwich, you can get on a boat on the River Thames and travel to Tower Bridge, Westminster, Kew, Richmond and Hampton Court. The train will also get you into London in 35 minutes.

Crystal Palace campsite is just a short walk from the centre of Crystal Palace and you can easily get a bus or train from here to central London in 45 minutes.

The staff are friendly, the facilities are clean and visitors come back time and again because they like it so much.

Just north of London, you’ll find Theobalds Park, a great campsite just inside the M25 motorway near the Lee Valley Country Park and Epping Forest.

It’s a perfect place to explore London from as it’s only 15 miles from the capital centre. Just catch a train from Waltham Cross and you can be at the Houses of Parliament in under an hour.
