Jetboil were behind one of the game changers in camp cooking with their original personal cooking system, a stove set that bundled into one compact package and gave an extremely fast boiling time as well.
Following on from its success, Jetboil released a number of variations and different stove types, establishing themselves as one of the leaders in the market. But it’s only now that they’ve decided to release a simple standalone burner.
As it turns out, as well as filling an obvious gap in their line, we reckon they’ve produced one of the industry’s best stoves this year. They call it the MightyMo.
“The simmer control guarantees you’re in complete command while you’re cooking”
Where the Jetboil MightyMo stands out is in its control and ease of use. The simmer control guarantees you’re in complete command at all times while you’re cooking. At 95g it’s not quite as lightweight as the MSR Pocket Rocket 2, but it does come in lighter than the majority of other worthy options, and the regulator on the stove is something that not many of its rivals offer. It makes it capable of controlling the flow of gas, allowing it to operate efficiently in temperatures down to as low as -7 degrees celsius.
The MightyMo packs away easily too, and though it can be a struggle to use without a windshield in tricky conditions, it is still functional (though even a botched windshield will improve the burn considerably).
So what about the timings? The MightyMo can boil water inside in standard conditions in under three minutes, and while, like all stoves, it slows down in particularly chilly environments, you’re still not looking at a wait of much more than five minutes for the boil.
