5 Of The Most Awesome Cliff Diving Videos In History

Sponsored content: Jumping off rocky ledges has never looked so good.

In order to produce this definitive celebration of cliff-diving, we had to watch way more cliff-diving videos than we would normally watch on a Wednesday afternoon. We’re definitely not complaining. We very much enjoyed it. It’s just that now we can’t look at anything without wanting to jump off it immediately afterwards, preferably with some feel good summer music blaring in the background.

What’s brought on this sudden cliff-diving obsession? Well, you might remember that we recently teamed up with Ford to tour the UK’s best action sports and adventure hotspots. If you have a recollection of this, but didn’t watch the awesome little films that were produced as a result of this collaboration, we’ve decided to give you another chance to do so. The thought of you not watching this one (see below), which featured some nerve-shredding cliff-diving in the shadow of Scafell Pike, was keeping us up at night. It’s honestly a cracking little watch, featuring Ed Leigh and Phil Young, so get on that now before it’s too late.

Once you’ve watched that, it’s time to enjoy some of our most favourite cliff-diving videos ever. There’s big jumps, big back flips, and big spoonfuls of fun here. It’s basically a good time guaranteed. Yes. The nights might be closing in, and the summer might feel like a distant dream, but we think some of these edits will snap you out of your seasonal slumber. So sit back, and marvel at the power of gravity…and cliffs.

1) THE MOST AMAZING CLIFF DIVING VIDEO EVER!!!

This video is called ‘THE MOST AMAZING CLIFF DIVING VIDEO EVER!!!’ We didn’t write that in capital letters, just for a laugh. That’s how it was uploaded to YouTube, like that, like it’s being shouted from inside the cave systems of a particularly ancient cliff-face.

In fairness to the peeps who uploaded it, it’s a pretty decent watch. The music is one of THE MOST INTENSE THINGS WE’VE EVER LISTENED TO but other than that, this is basically everything anyone could ever want in a cliff diving video. AMAZING!

2) NEW WORLD RECORD! HIGHEST CLIFF JUMPING 58.8 METERS/200 FEET!

What is it with cliff diving videos having completely capitalised titles on YouTube? Seriously. We’re asking you. What’s it all about? Because, honestly, we’re stumped. IS IT BECAUSE THEY’RE JUST SO GOOD IT’S IMPOSSIBLE TO WRITE ABOUT THEM IN LOWERCASE FONT? OR MAYBE IT’S BECAUSE THE ONLY PEOPLE THAT WATCH THESE VIDEOS ARE 81-YEAR-OLDS WITH CATARACTS? Who knows?

In fairness, this cliff diving video is probably our all-time favourite one. Laso Schaller, who set a new world record with this particularly gnarly moment, must have balls the size of genetically-modified watermelons. It’s the only explanation for his insane levels of bravery. This jump was higher than the height of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. and saw Liso hit an eye-popping 123km/h. Incredible stuff.

3) Cliff Jumping Italy…In 4K!

We’ve basically come to that stage in human existence where no “best video” list would be complete without an entry from DevinSuperTramp. This cliff-diving video, shot in Italy, is an absolute feast for the eyeballs. The idea of your eyeballs tucking into a cliff diving edit, with tiny cutlery, might sound insane but after watching this absolute treat you’ll quickly understand why we’ve hyped it up so much. Oh, and of course, it’s “in 4K!” This is DevinSuperTramp, after all.

4) Spider – Cliff Diving at Rick’s Cafe

“Alright, GoPro Jamaica, no problem,” might just be our favourite opening line to any YouTube video in human history. The line is delivered by a man named Spider and in saying it out loud he’s basically cemented himself in our big book of heroes. It’s a leather bound book so you know, without hesitation, that it’s 100% legit.

The story behind the video goes something like this. Spider works in Jamaica at a place called Rick’s Cafe. In exchange for $20 US, he’ll dive off an 80-ish foot platform while holding your GoPro and capture you some pretty rad footage. We can only presume that Rick, of Rick’s Cafe, doesn’t mind his staff doing stuff like this during working hours. Or maybe Spider is Rick, and Rick is Spider? Whatever. Cool footage.

5) Arizona Cliff Diving Party

This might just be the best combined use of Arizona, a small cliff in Arizona, and a big trampoline in Arizona that we’ve ever seen. OK. So we’re not exactly inundated with videos featuring that combination but we still think it’s a pretty rad watch. Sure, it doesn’t feature the most spectacular distance between initial jump and water, and the skills on show are a fairly standard affair, but there’s just something about it that we really like. Go on. Watch it. You’ll have a good time.
