Swiss daredevil Laso Schaller has set a new world record for the highest cliff jump ever survived.

The Brazilian born cliff diver and canyoneer – the second best job title we’ve ever heard (Volcanologist is still number one) – leapt a dizzying 193 feet (58.8 metres)  from the picturesque Cascada del Saltothe falls in Maggia, Switzerland.

Just the thought of the drop is enough to give most people a nose bleed, but if you can’t quite picture it in your head, imagine the tallest person you know, and then stack 28 people just as tall on their shoulders and you’ll be around about there.

Hell, it’s higher than the iconic Leaning Tower Of Pisa in Italy.

The landing was an eight metre deep pool that had some gnarly rocks waiting at the bottom, so a lot of preparation was needed. Luckily, along with a safety team, Schaller has jumped off more cliffs than you’ve had hot dinners, regularly leaping off anything from 25 to 35 metres high.

But almost 60 metres is a whole other ball game. From that height, the human body will be traveling at a staggering 84mph by the time it hits the water. However, Laso seemed to take it all in his stride, saying after his record breaking jump “Once you get above 25m, everything starts to look and feel the same. The only difference is the airtime”
