Here at Mpora, we love beer. We love beer a lot. Beer! Beer! Beer! Mmmmmmm. Love a good beer. We’d go so far as to say that we’d take a bullet for beer (Clint Eastwood – ‘In The Line Of Fire’ – style).  If you think we’re exaggerating, come down to our office at 11:30am on a Friday and see for yourself. Beer? Yeah. Beer is the best.

One of the bad things about beer, however, is that the plastic rings that hold a six-pack of cans together often find themselves in places where they can do damage to wildlife. This annoys us and, in our darkest moments, makes us question the whole business of beer itself. The damage to the environment caused by plastic pollution in the ocean is well documented, and always makes for sad reading when it pops up in the news.

We’re happy to report though that the clever clogs over at SaltWater Brewery, in Florida – USA, might just have come up with an ingenious solution to sea creatures getting hurt and killed by plastic six-pack rings. In a nutshell – make them edible. The six-packs are made from barley and wheat remnants leftover from the brewing process, and we think they’re a genuinely brilliant idea. Get drunk and save the environment simultaneously? Count us in.
