What Is A Snatch?

If you're in the gym or trying out CrossFit, you're bound to hear the term 'snatch' being bandied about. But what the devil does it mean ?

Get your mind out of the gutter! The snatch is one of two lifts used in Olympic lifting (the other being clean and jerk). Yes, there are only two, who would have thunk it?

The snatch involves lifting a barbell from the floor to above your head in one clean move, usually with feet in a squat or split squat position. Don’t try this without supervision or learning the proper technique though, you’ll do yourself a damage.
