Pick the wrong pair of hiking boots and you could be calling time on your walk much earlier than planned. But there’s more to getting the right pair of boots than just making sure they’re suitably waterproof.
Head out on a hike in summer with a boot that’s not breathable and you’ll find yourself in quite the uncomfortable fluster. The Asolo Falcon GV hiking boot is primarily a boot for summer hiking, and it’s got pretty much everything you could ask for in such a model – from the breathability to the comfort, resilience and the light weight.
The mid-ankle height of the Falcon offers enough ankle support without being overly rigid, a great choice for days when you’re tackling mid-level trails in the sunshine and planning on staying on them for a while. Medium cushioning on the sole matches up to this remit as well.

The boot features a durable, grippy Vibram Redstar sole with self-cleaning lugs, which means you won’t be picking mud off your boots all day, though as with most summer boots, the Falcon isn’t aggressively lugged and so not ideal for steep slopes or extreme mud. A double-density midsole means that you’ll get more abrasion resistance in the boot and it’ll last you longer than a single equivalent.
Of course, a boot designed for summer doesn’t mean a boot which isn’t ready to stand up to a bit of rain. The Falcon is more than capable in wet conditions. The Gore-Tex performance Comfort Footwear lining is where that waterproofing and breathability come in, and it does exactly the job you would expect it to do on both these fronts.
This means that whether you set out for the day with a particular route in mind or find yourself improvising and crossing through the odd bit of water here and there, you won’t have to worry about your feet. It’s incredibly versatile and able to adapt to all but the most extreme environments.
